Posted By: Admin 2014-10-19 - Litecoinlocal Relaunch

Let me start by introducing myself. I started working for Litecoinlocal in January 2014, and despite the poor working conditions, I've stuck with the site ever since. The website underwent significant changes in 2014, thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Litecoinlocal team. However, all my co-workers have quit over time, leaving me as Litecoinlocal.org's only employee.

These other employees left mainly because the longtime owner (known as skinnkavaj on freenode IRC or dennishaggblom) has continued to request new features for the site while offering little to no payment for these new features. For example, I have been a shareholder since April 2014, but to this date I have not received 1 satoshi of site revenue.

A couple days ago, the old owner posted a Reddit thread announcing that Litecoinlocal was closing down for good. This was done without consulting me (or anyone else for that matter) and I received zero compensation. This left me with a choice. I could cut my losses and allow one aggrieved man to nullify the efforts of all past Litecoinlocal coders, the efforts of all our vendors, and above all rob the Litecoin community of a core tool for fiat exchange; or I could, with the help of my friend and former Litecoinlocal co-developer Someguy123 revive the site.

In the future we plan to be more transparent; we will make our cold storage addresses publicly visible and we will sign important communications with these addresses. We are now more secure than ever before, taking maximum precautions to ensure the safety of our server and hot wallet. Lastly we will be more accessible. You can contact me directly at [email protected], or the Litecoin specialist at [email protected].

Litecoinlocal is back, and it's faster and better than ever, but things aren't exactly as they were. All user balances have been set to zero and any incomplete trades have been cancelled. In his Reddit post, the original owner of Litecoinlocal.org claimed that he would repay all 'top sellers' for lost Litecoins. If you had money in Litecoinlocal.org, you must contact him as he is the only one with access to the cold storage for the old site. In addition to this, the exchange has been disabled. We are open to suggestions for new features, but the main focus of the site is not the exchange of Litecoins into other crypto-currencies.

I want to thank all our users, especially our dedicated Litecoin buyers and sellers. Without you, we would not be able to continue hosting the site. I also want to thank the Litecoin Association as well as the users and staff of r/litecoin and Litecointalk.org for bearing with us during this stressful time.

We will be in touch,

Litecoinlocal.net Staff

9 years ago Lightman Restore our old balance, it's just not only an advise.
9 years ago Thanos I would really appreciate it if he can restore my balance on litecoinlocal.net. Failure to reimburse me means he just abandonned ship, I assume with people's Litecoins.
This shows we humans cannot function without a centralized and legal framework for banking and money. Because before we know it our accounts are emptied.
Shame on him and may he get an accident and break something
9 years ago ADMIN The owner of litecoinlocal.org is the only person with access to the cold storage wallet. Unless he sent them somewhere else, he is in possession of your coins, and it doesn't look like he plans on giving them back. As a general rule it is never a good idea to use online wallets for long-term storage of crypto-currency unless you know and trust the owner of the cold storage wallet. Please, for your own safety, do not use our site for long term storage of Litecoins.
9 years ago littlepuss Can anyone clarify something for me - I just read this news about closing down and all balances set to zero. That is very disturbing. I had my litecoins in cold storage sent from the Litecoin QT desktop Wallet about a year ago and have not touched since - does this mean they are now gone? Does anyone know if I can get them back? I was lead to believe if your coins are in cold storage no one can take them. Thank you.
9 years ago ADMIN Coins have been returned to LTCLRULER. NOTE: If anyone else has accidentally sent coins to the old site addresses, please send an email to [email protected] and we'll attempt to recover your coins ASAP. Make sure you give us an address to send back to, tell us which address they went to, how many you sent, and who you are on the site.
9 years ago LTCLRULER Darn I've just send LTC to the old adress!! DARN is it possible to return me those LTC?
9 years ago ADMIN After being hacked many times the owner of litecoinlocal.org, Dennis Haggblom, hired me and Someguy123 from the #bitcoin-otc channel on freenode irc to work on his site. During our time at litecoinlocal.org we successfully ensured that Litecoinlocal.org was safe; once we had the new version of the website in place, we were not hacked even one time. Unfortunately, because we were not close friends with Dennis (in fact we all live in completely different countries) me and Someguy123 never had access to the cold storage wallet. Dennis is in full possession of all (approx. 5897.73221551) LTC stored on the site. We will be releasing another announcement on security and transparency (including a list of past cold storage addresses) within a week. Thank you for your patience.
9 years ago anteroh What ever happens this site has lost it's name already. Me and many others have lost all LTC's that we have bought through this service. Sending emails to someone on reddit to get your lost LTC back is bull*. This site and people associated can not be trusted. Any LTC should never in the first place been removed from any wallets by any other than the owner of the wallet. I don't care who's reason this mess is. Reputation gone.
9 years ago Btboy123 Reddit are saying it's not true so where are they
You can't just steel my coins. I will get the legal team in if I don't recieve them but don't want to because will cost me money. Reddit are saying your full of shit to be honest
